The wildfire outside Yellowknife remains out of control and was last mapped at 174,103 and remains unlikely to reach the outskirts of Yellowknife in the next 72 hours.
NWT Fire reported no significant advance of the fire with most activity happening within the edge of the fire’s perimeter.
Over the next few days, flareups and fire burning through the tops of trees is expected due to very little precipitation forecasted over the next week.
Southwesterly winds were seen throughout the day yesterday, and temperatures exceeded forecasted highs to reach 25 degrees in some areas.
Flareups in Behchokǫ̀ are expected but are not a concern as ground crews are in the area ready to respond and extinguish/mop-up any hotspots.
