NAKA returns for month long festival

The Naka Festival will be returning to Yellowknife for the third consecutive year.

Running throughout the month of March, the festival celebrates the aurora borealis and northern culture through a variety of themed events hosted by community organizations and representatives.

Mayor Rebecca Alty says the Naka Festival is a great opportunity to explore and celebrate northern culture and the aurora borealis.

Some of the virtual and in-person events include online Indigenous Storytelling and the Naka Fashion Showcase, a virtual exploration of six NWT fashion artists.

Residents will also have an opportunity to register for an Aurora Photography Workshop, NWT Film screenings, and a Hand Games Workshop.

The festival is put on every year by the City of Yellowknife with the Yellowknives Dene First Nation, the North Slave Metis Alliance, the GNWT, and NWT Tourism.
