Yellowknife man scratches his way to $10,000 win

It’s no Powerball but it’ll do.

The Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) says Yellowknife resident Clarence Chartrand is $10,000 richer thanks to a Scratch ‘n Win ticket.

According to the WCLC, Chartrand bought the ticket at the Shell gas station on Range Lake Road.

His win was made public on Monday, although it sounds like Chartrand held on to his winning ticket for some time before claiming it.

“I scratched the ticket a little while ago,” Chartrand told the corporation when he turned up to collect his prize.

“I really couldn’t believe my eyes. I was really surprised.

“But I didn’t want to send my ticket anywhere – I wanted to keep it with me. I knew I was going to take a trip to Edmonton at some point so I waited for that.”
