The NorthWords NWT group is putting together a special event to help celebrate Mother’s Day.
The group is partnering with the YWCA to help celebrate the women and matriarchs who play important roles in so many lives.
The event will be taking place at the Sundog Trading Post on Saturday, May 11th. Starting at 7:00pm, those who wish to participate need only sign up when they arrive. Participants will be able to take the stage for five minutes to showcase their writing skills.
Some of the suggestions from NorthWords for what participants could do for the event include poems, comedy routines, traditional tales, excerpts from memoirs, and even letters of thanks to paternal figures.
Money raised from the event will be going towards supplies for those living in YWCA transitional housing, and the Alison McAteer House family violence shelter.
