NWT residents are being invited to share their feedback on new elevator and lift regulations.
While the Elevators and Lifts Act had its first assent in November of 2022, it has been in limbo ever since, and cannot be put into effect until the proper regulations are completed and ready to be adopted.
The proposed regulations would revise the inspection process on the non-electrical components of elevators. Currently, the electrical components of lifts are the only ones that are covered by a regulatory law, the Electrical Protection Act. This change would bring the Territory up to speed with the rest of the country on this matter.
