The City of Yellowknife is advising residents to make sure they keep their sidewalks clean.
Over the winter, dirt and gravel deployed during the winter to help with vehicle traction builds up significantly. Now that the snow is melting, the City is asking any residents who own properties with adjacent sidewalks to make sure they are cleaned up by May 15th.
In the meantime, the city is still working to clear dirt and sand from the streets and alleys. Cleaning efforts are coordinated during low traffic times, and when conditions allow. Work is progressing, but the City stresses that it can take some time to clear the 164 kilometres of road.
