Despite some chilling winds, the City of Yellowknife once again put together an incredible fireworks display to usher in the new year!
Gathering at the Somba K’e Civic Plaza, hundreds of residents gathered and turned their eyes towards Frame Lake.
Almost exactly at 8:00pm, the show began, and captivated the audience for the next fifteen minutes. While some fireworks simply rose into the air and released a colourful pop, others released a cluster of smaller lights, and a few even popped into the shape of a heart. A few others released with surprisingly deep and powerful “thuds.”
While the past year presented unique challenges for many in Yellowknife and across the north, joining with friends, family, and neighbours to celebrate the holidays and the New Year was a greatly welcome way to wrap up 2023.
