True North FM Receives Two Broadcasting Awards

True North FM is proud to be the recipient of not one, but two awards, from the Canadian Radio Awards presented by industry trade magazine “Broadcast Dialogue”.

Our team of broadcasters landed the Best Community Service Initiative for the relief programs we started called “Recover Together” and “True North FM NWT Wildfire Relief Fund”. Working in partnership with the Salvation Army, True North FM launched the “NWT Wildfire Relief Fund” as a fundraising initiative to provide relief to evacuees of the city, forced from their homes during the wildfires during the summer of 2023.

Once residents were allowed to come back to their homes, True North FM launched the “Recover Together” program, providing free advertising on our radio and digital platforms to businesses and organizations trying to find their feet after weeks of being displaced. In all, nearly 150 Yellowknife and NWT businesses took advantage of the program to-date.

True North FM has also won the award of “Best Performance in a Commercial” in the Small Market category for the campaign of Yellowknife’s “The Hungry Wolf Restaurant”, voiced by Scott Armstrong and Michelle Somerville.

The Canadian Radio Awards are awarded annually to broadcasters across Canada.
