Crews continue Highway 3 operations, human caused fires present concern: NWT Fire

No new fires popped up in the Northwest Territories since September 19th as crews remain active around the territory.

According to NWT Fire, crews remain active on Highway 3 between BehchokÇ«Ì€ and Yellowknife. Anyone driving through the area is asked to drive slow, follow directions, and give crews space to work.

NWT Fire says as the territory moves into cooler weather, human caused fires continue to present a concern. Anyone on the land having a fire is asked to make sure fires are completely out before leaving.

Smoke from nearby fires continue to impact highways, and Highway 1 closed yesterday. Currently, Highway 1 near Jean Marie River Bridge is operational for alternating single-lane traffic and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h.
