Fort Simpson RCMP arrest five youth in relation to string of break and enters and thefts

The RCMP has arrested five youth following a string of break and enters to commercial properties and thefts that occurred between August 26th, 2023 and September 9th, 2023 in Fort Simpson.

According to police, officers responded to three break and enters and three separate reports of thefts from properties and a mischief to vehicle that were linked.

Upon investigation, the Fort Simpson RCMP were able to identify and arrest five youth from the community in relation to these incidents.

After consultation with the affected parties, and considering the cooperation of the youth, four of them entered a youth diversion program that will keep them out of court while holding them accountable for their role in the crimes.

“The programs ensure that youth involved in criminality are held to account, given the opportunity to understand the impact of their actions and to learn from mistakes,” the RCMP says.
