The City of Yellowknife has issued an Evacuation Alert for some areas of the city due to the ‘real potential threat’ to public safety as the Highway 3 wildfire creeps closer to Yellowknife.
The alert has been issued for Kam Lake, Grace Lake, and the Engle Business District.
According to the City, residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation; however, the City says some may receive limited notice due to shifting conditions.
Residents are advised to be prepared of a potential need to evacuate your property on short notice if necessary.
