Beginning today (August 15), the City of Yellowknife has extended public hours for the Solid Waste Facility until Sunday, August 20, 2023.
Residents will be granted access from 7:30am to 4:15pm, to provide Yellowknifers to bring firesmarted waste to the SWF.
According to the City of Yellowknife, firesmarted materials are categorized as yard waste and must be brought in paper bags to be disposed of for free.
The City says any waste brought in plastic bags will be considered garbage, and the residential tipping fee of $16.50 will still apply.
The SWF will return to regular hours, and will be closed to the public on Monday, August 21.
