Crews in Inuvik have begun assessing the nearby wildfire that kicked up on August 10th.
Shortly after the wildfire was identified, the Town of Inuvik began encouraging residents to prepare emergency kits and pre-register on the Evacuee Registration Portal.
According to the Town there are three levels of an evacuation: Be prepared, coming soon, and evacuation orders. Presently, the Town of Inuvik is on level one.
NWT Fire says cooling temperatures combined with light rain have improved visibility, and should present an opportunity for aircraft and crews to access the flames from the sky.
