Yellowknife RCMP Conduct Drug Seizure, and Investigate Break-In

The Yellowknife RCMP have had too deal with several incidents over the last several days.

On November 24th, 2022, a traffic stop by Yellowknife detachment resulted in the arrest of a 19-year-old man from British Columbia for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. The man was found to be in possession of 7 grams of cocaine and a large knife that was concealed on his person. A search warrant for the man’s accommodations was subsequently executed and resulted in the seizure of:

· Approximately 84 grams of crack cocaine;

· Approximately 8 grams of cocaine, and;

· Approximately $20,720 cash.

The man faces the following charges:

1. Trafficking Cocaine

2. Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking

3. Possession of the Proceeds of Crime

4. Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

5. Possession of a Concealed Weapon

Then, On November 27th, 2022, at approximately 7:25 AM, the Yellowknife RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery at a business on Forrest Drive. The initial investigation determined an unknown man had walked inside a business and tried to steal an item. An employee of the business tried to intervene but was sprayed by the man with bear spray. The man then stole a number of cigarettes from the business before fleeing the area on foot.

RCMP officers including members of the “G” Division Police Dog Services attended and attempted to locate this man. This man was not located at that time. Video surveillance captured the male suspect wearing a grey hoody, a black face mask, tan bib-style snow pants with black patches over the knees, black boots and blue gloves.

RCMP are still trying to identify the suspect and are seeking the public’s help.
