On November 25th, 2022, the Yellowknife RCMP began receiving multiple reports of damaged vehicles in the Borden Drive area in Yellowknife. The subsequent investigation into these damaged vehicles determined approximately seven vehicles had sustained smashed windows overnight.
A 16 year-old youth was arrested near the location of these vandalized vehicles and during the course of their arrest, spat in a police officer’s face. This youth now faces 13 charges, including 7 counts of Mischief under $5,000, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous for Public Purpose, Possession of break-in instruments, Possession of Property obtained by crime less than $5,000, Assault on a Police Officer, Obstructing a Police Officer and failing to comply with a court order.
This youth has been remanded into custody.
