A new program is coming to town.
The Status of Women Council will be starting the ‘Connecting Senior Women and Young Mothers through Art’ program. Funding for the program will be done through New Horizons for Seniors.
The program is meant to promote social interaction and knowledge sharing between senior women and mothers with young children.
It will begin later this year. There will be three sessions in total, with each taking place over five weeks. Classes will run on Tuesday afternoons. Jessica A. McVicker will lead the art classes with, “a different art focus each week.”
The classes will be free and will be held at the new Centre for Northern Families Building. To add onto financial friendly means, childcare, transportation and art supplies will all be provided.
The final session will wrap up in March of next year. There will be a public showing of the art that has been produced and the opportunity to talk to women and mothers who have participated in the program.
