At approximately 2:45 AM on August 4th 2023, RCMP received a call for service to a residence in Behchoko. The RCMP members arrived and immediately provided first aid to a male with serious injuries.
EMS arrived on scene and transported the male to the local Health Centre, then to Stanton Hospital where the 17-year-old male was declared deceased.
The RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit, Forensic Identification Services and other specialized support units, as well as the Office of the Chief Coroner are investigating the incident.
A male adult has been arrested and is currently in police custody. No charges have been laid at this time. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the RCMP.
