Rising water levels in northern communities leads to flooding

The community of Fort McPherson has declared a State of Local Emergency on May 16 due to rising water levels.

Local Emergency Management Organizations (EMO) has been activated and meets regularly with stakeholders throughout this process.

As of May 19, 2023, road access to the airport has re-opened and residential water tanks have been filled and tankers are full of water, if required by residents in case of any further closures.

Mental health services are available to community members through the health care centre, and ongoing care for home care clients will continue.
