The NT RCMP Federal Investigations Unit have arrested and charged a man for possession of cocaine. On May 9th, police officers from the FUI arrested a 30-year-old man in the parking lot of a local business. The arrest was a result of an investigation which started in December of last year.

A search warrant was then executed on the man’s apartment in the Range Lake area of Yellowknife. Over 2900 pre-packaged baggies of crack cocaine, an additional 157 grams of cocaine, and approximately $1600 cash was also seized.

S/Sgt Dean Riou, NCO i/c “G” Division Federal Policing states the RCMP is pleased to remove these drugs from the distribution chain in the NWT and hold accountable those individuals who wish to harm our communities.

“This investigation and seizure once again resonate the need to quell the strong demand for crack cocaine in the Northwest Territories.”

The 30-year-old of Yellowknife and Toronto is charged and will be appearing in court on May 13th at 1:30 p.m.

Anyone with information on suspicious activity is asked to call Yellowknife RCMP at 669-1111, contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
