Two teenagers are alleged to have carried out a series of thefts from homes and hotel rooms in downtown Yellowknife.

RCMP have arrested an 18-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy – neither of whom can be named under the provisions of the Young Offenders Act – and charged them with 13 offences.

The charges include break and enter, theft, and possession of stolen property under five thousand dollars.

Jewellery, electronics and cash were all reported stolen following the December break-ins, but RCMP say many of the missing items have turned up after a house in the city was searched.

“As a result of that, a large portion of the stolen property was recovered,” said Cst Elenore Sturko.

“When it comes to property crime, having even one break-and-enter is too much. This is a good story for us – we like being able to recover items, and find those responsible and bring them to justice.”
