Yellowknife Search and Rescue Group seeking New Volunteers

The City of Yellowknife’s Search and Rescue team is currently looking for new volunteers to join their team.

They will be running their Basic Searcher course starting on May 24th. The course will last two weekends, with one weekend spent in the classroom, and the other spent in the field.

The topics that will be covered will include NWT search categories, Government and agency roles, general operations, common behaviours of lost people, and ground search practices. The course is limited to a maximum of 12 participants.

These courses are intended for individuals who want to be a part of the search and rescue organization, and therefore, members must be active participants in the group. The YKSAR will be performing RCMP criminal records checks on new applicants.

The first weekend course will be from May 24th to the 26th, and the second one will be from May 31st to June 2nd.
