120 Singers Set to Perform in Latest Show of YK’s Aurora Chorealis

Yellowknife’s Aurora Chorealis group is getting ready for their next spring concert, which will feature over 100 singers.

The performance will be called “Connections,” and will feature songs all about healing and humour in a polarized world. Included in the show is a collection of nearly 40 singers from one of Edmonton’s most well-known choirs, Òran.

The singers will be performing the show in five different languages including Ojibwe and isiZulu. All 120 singers will also be performing an original song created by beloved Yellowknife musician Munya Mataruse.

In a statement, Aurora Chorealis conductor Margo Nightingale said that “our pieces come from very different points in time, cultures and inspiration, yet they are deeply connected, and when we are all on stage singing together, we are living that connection.”

All of Yellowknife is invited to watch the performance. It will be held at the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre on Saturday, April 13th, with one performance at 2:00, and a second at 7:30.
