Yellowknife Toboggan Hill & Ice Rinks Closing for Spring

A handful of Yellowknife winter attractions have either been closed for the season, or will be closing in the coming days.

Firstly, due to the warm weather, a number of outdoor skating rinks have been closed for the season. The rinks in question are the ones located at Hall Crescent, Jeske Crescent, Forrest Drive, Tommy Forest, and School Draw.

At the moment, the rinks and oval at Somba K’e are remaining open.

Additionally, the tobogganing hill at 51^st Avenue will be closing on Wednesday, April 10^th. Drivers in the area are asked to be aware of heavy machinery that will be on site to remove the snow from the area. The street is expected to be back open for regular traffic by 4:00pm on Wednesday afternoon.

Along with these notices, the City has released the snow cleaning schedule for the week of April 8^th to the 12^th;

Monday, April 8

• Bryson Drive from Franklin Avenue to Brock Drive;
• All of Hershman Road;
• All of Stout Road; and
• All of Norseman Drive.

Tuesday, April 9

• Anson Drive from Norseman Drive to end;
• All of McMahon Court;
• All of Lyons Point;
• All of Stirling Court; and
• All of Findlay Point.

Wednesday, April 10

• All of Catalina Drive;
• Lane between Norseman Drive and Anson Drive;
• Lane between Norseman Drive and Catalina Drive;
• All of Dakota Court;
• All of Albatross Court; and
• All of Majaesic Court.

Thursday, April 11

• All of Brock Drive;
• Ragged Ass Road from Brock Drive to Hamilton Drive;
• Hamilton Drive from Franklin Avenue to Bretzlaff Drive;
• Bretzlaff Drive from Hamilton Drive to Franklin Avenue;
• Hamilton Drive from Franklin Avenue to Stout Road; and
• All of Lundquist Road.

Friday, April 12

• Tililo Tili from Sikyea Tili to end;
• Kemelli Tili from Sikyea Tili to end;
• 54 Avenue from 52 Street to 49 Street.
