Camping Fees Slightly Raised in NWT Parks

Those who enjoy the various parks across the NWT will see a slightly higher fee for their use from now on.

Following a change made to the Territorial Parks Regulations, the 2024 season will be introducing a per-night fee increase of $5.33, for a total of $33.33 for powered sites, and an increase of $6.07 for a total of $28.57 for unpowered sites. This comes after the launch of a new online reservation system for this year’s season, which will also be adding a $6.00 reservation fee across the board. These new fee increases are to help offset the cost of implementing the new software, and falls in line with how similar practices are implemented in other jurisdictions.

Even with these increases, camping fees in the NWT remain the lowest in the country, with campsites in other parts of the country reaching prices like $43.73 a night, or up to $38.75 for unpowered sites.

The last time the GNWT adjusted camping fees was in 2009.
