Municipal and Community Affairs Minister Shane Thompson has announced the approval of the NWT Active Living Framework 2023-2033.
The 10 year framework focuses on strategic approaches to recreation, sport, and physical activity and was developed through engagement with the sport and recreation sector alongside organizations and individuals representing underserved populations in the NWT.
The GNWT says the framework includes prioritizing Indigenous cultures and practices, building the sport and recreation sector’s capacity, and improving access for increased participation.
“I am confident that this Framework is a northern-developed and led initiative that will serve the wellbeing of our residents for years to come,” Minister Thompson says.
According to the GNWT, the Active Living Framework will begin in the 20th Legislative Assembly after the election and will include monitoring and evaluation framework as the project is implemented.
