MP McLeod recognizes two $100,000 grants for accessibility infrastructure in the NWT

On Friday, Oct 6, NWT MP Michael McLeod highlighted two projects led by Northwest Territories organizations that each received $100,000 in funding under the Small Projects component of the Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF).

According to McLeod, the announcement supports the construction of an accessible ramp at the NWT/Nunavut Council of Friendship Centres’ office in Yellowknife, and a new accessible preschool playground in Délı̨nę.

“Together, we are working hard to make our community more accessible for persons with disabilities. Improving accessibility benefits all Canadians,” MP McLeod says.

The Northwest Territories/Nunavut Council of Friendship Centres adds that mental health programs available under the Indian Residential School Resolution Health Support Program offer support for Residential School survivors and their families, and adding a ramp provides access to the building and its facilities for clients with walking inhibitions.
