The GNWT has announced the new Commercial Fishery Support Pilot Program (CFSP) is now accepting applications.
The GNWT says the funding program is part of the territorial strategy to support NWT fishermen and prop up the territory’s commercial fishing industry by helping to defer costs, supplement prices, and encourage recruitment.
“This funding will help to reignite the interest of young fishers while supporting the industry through a changing economic landscape,” Minister of Industry Caroline Wawzonek says.
According to the GNWT, the commercial fishing industry is a cornerstone of the ongoing economy diversification effort for the NWT, and the goal of the CFSP is to spark the interest of new fishers in the territory.
