Cool, damp conditions continue to slow South Slave fires

Across the South Slave, crews continue to mop up, protect structures, and complete helicopter bucketing operations in support of Enterprise.

Precipitation slammed the NWT yesterday and the South Slave saw high moisture and low temperatures due to favourable conditions in the region. Fire danger is considered low in Hay River and Enterprise today.

A lightning caused blaze has moved into the territory from Alberta and is estimated at 2,000 hectares in size. The flames currently stand 56km southeast of Enterprise and NWT Fire says there is no threat to communities or infrastructure at this time.

Today, no rain is expected in the area; however, NWT Fire says cool, damp conditions with “near full” cloud cover is expected to continue.
