One new fire sparked up in the South Slave yesterday. According to NWT Fire, the lightning caused fire is an estimated 25 hectares in size.
The blaze is currently located approximately 60km northwest of Kakisa and 3km south of Highway 1 at kilometre marker 246.
Highways continue to see smoke in numerous areas due to wildfires, and NWT Fire says roads may close with little to no notice. Highway information is available here.
Temperatures have started to cool down across the territory, but remain above seasonal averages in several areas.
