Officials in the Town of Hay River are urging any residents remaining in the area to head to the airport to await further instructions after the fire has begun progressing north.
The municipality the fire currently south of Hay River is increasing in intensity, in addition to its course towards the township. The majority of Hay River residents under evacuation order fled the municpality on Sunday afternoon to registration centres in Alberta.
