GNWT Seeking Feedback from Tulita on Fish Offsetting Plan

The GNWT is seeking input from residents in Tulita on the Fish and Fish Habitat Offsetting Plan for the Great Bear River Bridge project.

A meeting will be held in Tulita where the GNWT will provide an update on the project and discuss the Fish and Fish Habitat Offsetting plan. This meeting will also provide an important opportunity for residents to provide feedback. Door prizes and dinner will be provided.

The proposed bridge, located at kilometre 938 of the Mackenzie Valley Winter Road, will be built 800 metres from the confluence of the Great Bear River and the Mackenzie River in the Sahtu Region of the Northwest Territories. A permanent bridge will extend the winter road season and provide efficiencies for industry.

Improved access between communities will provide more social opportunities such as family, recreation, and sporting interactions. It will also improve access to health care facilities and economic opportunities.

The meeting is taking place on Wednesday, August 16th at the Tulita Community Centre from 6pm to 8pm. Online engagement on the Fish and Fish Habitat Offsetting Plan will be open until August 23rd.
