The NWT RCMP has released the statistics for July 2023 surrounding several data points gathered throughout the territory.
According to the RCMP, 370 ‘persons offences’ were reported to police including: 46 Family Violence reports, 25 Sexual Offences, 62 Assault with Weapon reports, and Common Assault topping the list at 272 reports.
The RCMP also reports an 8% increase in the volume of calls for service from July 2022-July 2023 with 4606 calls in July alone.
Additionally, 373 complaints of property crime were reported to police last month, with Theft topping the list at 182 cases reported.
Several missing persons reports plagued the RCMP in July, with 41 reports in July alone.
