After crews were pushed away from their operations last night during their fight against the wildfire nearing Behchokǫ̀, NWT Fire has regrouped and reassessed their priorities.
Crews have confirmed the blaze reached the community of Behchokǫ̀ overnight, and three homes have been lost in Rae.
NWT Fire says while Highway 3 remains open, residents are extremely cautioned against using the road for safety reasons.
According to NWT Fire, Edzo has not been compromised as of this morning; however, crews say residents should prepare for this possibility.
“We need to prepare for the reality that this may happen today,” NWT Fire says. “We will know more about the risk when we are able to complete a fulsome assessment,” they add.
According to NWT Fire, the Stagg River power station was not compromised, and the fibre optic line remains undamaged while remaining a risk.
