Yellowknife RCMP are searching for a hunter who disappeared on Murdock Lake, east of Mackay Lake on the Gahcho Kué winter road, Monday afternoon.
The 65-year-old Behchoko man was with a group of eight hunters. The group was near Portage 21 on the Gahcho Kué winter road when at around noon he decided to hunt on his own and became separated from his group.
When he did not return after several hours he was reported missing to RCMP.
The man was last seen on a Blue Polaris snowmobile. The year and style are unknown, and RCMP say they do not have a description or photo of what he was wearing at the time.
Police are searching the area located 150 km northeast of the city. Community resources and private organizations are assisting in the search, along with operators and safety officers of the ice road.
