No one was injured after an RV trailer was destroyed by fire on Friday off Highway 3 near Yellowknife.
The Yellowknife Fire Division was called around 2:10 am on Friday around 8 kilometres from city limits after a passerby noticed smoke and flames.
A total of 10 people responded to the fire, which involved a command vehicle, fire engine, tanker, ambulance and one utility vehicle. The RCMP was also on scene for traffic control.
“On arrival an RV trailer was found fully involved in fire, with heavy fire impingement to the forestation and several propane tanks surrounding the structure,” read a press release from the city.
It took roughly an hour to bring the fire under control, with the fire so severe crews were in defensive mode. The trailer was completely destroyed.
A defensive mode is used when a fire is too severe to douse immediately. Crews then work to isolate or contain the blaze so it doesn’t spread.
A preliminary investigation has listed the cause as undetermined.
