RCMP Child Exploitation Unit asking public’s help to locate man

N.W.T.’s RCMP Internet Child Exploitation Unit is asking for help to locate a man currently under an arrest warrant. The RCMP have provided a photo of the man who is facing charges of possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography stemming back to February 2022.

Police said that in May 2024, an arrest warrant was issued at the Supreme Court for the 56-year-old whose last known address was Edmonton, Alta.

Police said the man’s current whereabouts and address are unknown.

RCMP reported that back in February 2022, Aydarus Abdi Warsame Warsame faced charges including one count of Possession of child pornography, contrary to section 163.1(4) of the Criminal Code and one count of Accessing child pornography, contrary to section 163.1 (4.1) of the Criminal Code.

A preliminary hearing was held in February 2024 in the city of Yellowknife.

Following the judge’s decision that there was enough evidence to proceed to trial, Warsame was required to appear in court in May 2024.
