A new Canadian Adult Education Credential will soon be made available in the Northwest Territories.
Starting on November 1st, NWT adults who do not have a high school diploma with have the chance to earn their high school equivalency. This can help adults to acquire jobs and become eligible for post-secondary education, as well as other education opportunities such as apprenticeships.
This new Credential consists of five tests that will evaluate reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. They are designed to allow adult learners to show their ability to communicate, process information, solve problems, and use critical thinking skills.
The tests must be conducted in person at one of the several examination centres that exist across the NWT. These facilities will change their location depending on availability, but the ECE Regional Service Centres will be working with their clients to help find a location and time for the tests to take place. Those who are interested in taking this test can contact the Regional Service Centre closest to them.
If individuals require more than one attempt to achieve the Canadian Adult Education Credential, they may take the test up to a total of three times in a year. If they require a further test, they are able to reapply in the new year.
