On the afternoon of August 16th, police located the missing man who had reportedly had an encounter with a bear. The man was found deceased.
At approximately 7:45 a.m. on August 15th, police received a signal from an emergency communications device located about 50 km south of Tulita, which is only reachable by water or air.
RCMP say evidence in the investigation confirms a bear encounter and that the GNWT Dept of ENR continues to assist with the investigation regarding the bear.
RCMP are assisting the NWT Coroner Service with a Coroner’s investigation and a post mortem examination has been ordered.
