Go Auto to spend $1 million on Hay River recreation centre

The company taking over the NWT’s Kingland Ford dealerships says it will commit $1 million to improving Hay River’s facilities.

Go Auto, which already owns Yellowknife Chrysler, is close to finalizing a deal to assume control of Kingland Ford – and associated properties – in Yellowknife and Hay River.

On Thursday, Go Auto’s Ben Cochrane confirmed the company plans to invest $1 million over 10 years to help the town improve its recreation centre.

The town already intends to hold a plebiscite on proposals for a new recreation centre in tandem with the municipal election on October 19.

Borrowing a figure as high as $20 million has been discussed by councillors, in order to replace the town’s existing recreation complex.

The deal handing Kingland Ford to Go Auto is set to come into effect at the start of October, according to the King family – which is selling the dealerships.
