NWT’s Health and Social Services Authority issued a notice reminding residents that Child and Youth Counsellors will continue to be accessible throughout the summer to support children, youth, and their families.
The Child and Youth Counselling Program is a critical component of mental health services across the N.W.T..
This program is embedded within the Community Counselling Program, where Child and Youth Counsellors offer free clinical mental health services to support children, youth, and their families year-round.
“Counsellors are available to talk, provide support, and help youth and their families connect with other services if needed. The CYC Program has flexibility to meet the various needs of residents, with services available during standard office hours all year (except for on weekends and statutory holidays) in person or by phone through your local Community Counselling Program. e-Mental Health options can also make a difference in your overall wellness by offering immediate access to supports. This includes the ability to connect with a virtual counsellor by phone or text, as well as self-directed tools,” said representatives from the program.
Youth and families in need support are urged to contact the NTHSSA mental health and wellness programs at www.nthssa.ca/mentalhealth.
