Third person arrested in connection to 2022 shooting death in Yellowknife

The RCMP reported today they have located the 20-year-old male facing charges in relation to the death of Feysal Farah in 2022.

At the time of the alleged offence the man was under the age of 18 years old. Police said the male could not be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Earlier this month, a 24-year-old from Edmonton and a 34-year-old from Fort Simpson were arrested in connection to Ferah’s murder.

Ferah was shot and killed at an apartment building on Con Road in the city of Yellowknife in August 2022.

NWT’s RCMP said the man was arrested by Edmonton police on June 22 and brought before a Justice of the Peace before being remanded in custody.

He will be transported back to the Northwest Territories to appear in Territorial Court in the coming days,” said police

On June 11 the RCMP Major Crimes Unit had announced they laid charges in connection with the death of Feysal Farah, who was found deceased in an apartment building on Con Road in August 2022.

“G” Division Major Crimes Unit said they had arrested a 24-year-old from Edmonton and a 34-year-old from Fort Simpson who were facing charges of manslaughter with a firearm pursuant to Section 236(a) of the Criminal Code. Police reported that the two men were remanded into custody with court appearance scheduled for June.

RCMP also reported that the 20-year-old male from Edmonton was facing charges of manslaughter with a firearm pursuant to Section 236(a) of the Criminal Code but had not been located and a warrant for his arrest had been issued.

“The Northwest Territories RCMP recognizes that homicide investigations can be lengthy and stressful for families of victims. We would like to thank the Farah family for their continued support and patience during this time,” said the RCMP in their June 11 announcement.
