Yellowknife, NWT – As many as 100 more volunteers are needed for Yellowknife’s Folk on the Rocks music festival.
That’s according to its Executive Director David Whitelock.
He says people can get involved by selling merchandise, working in the children’s area or serving in the beer gardens when the festival kicks off next Thursday.
Whitelock says the beer gardens will be open for an extra hour this year in an attempt to raise more funds.
“Not only is this good for our community, but we need to find ways to maximize our revenue a bit. The revenue that we receive from ticket sales and other sources is quite limited in terms of the overall need for the festival so we have to find ways to maximize. By adding on that extra hour, hopefully that can help the bottom end of the festival.”
By having the beer gardens open until 10pm, Whitelock hopes people will be discouraged from tailgating or drinking elsewhere on site.
Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to visit the Folk on the Rocks website.
