Fort Good Hope Driver Arrested after Fleeing Yellowknife Police

Yellowknife RCMP recently arrested a motorist after they tried to flee from a traffic stop.

On November 9th, patrolling officers pulled over a vehicle to conduct a document check in Yellowknife’s downtown core. The vehicle fled immediately, and officers did not pursue due to the risk to public safety. The vehicle was quickly found in the Chateau Nova parking lot, where it continued to try to avoid the police by driving in circles.

Due to the unpredictable nature of the incident, officers requested that all hotel guests stay inside until the matter was resolved.

The vehicle then fled from the parking lot and onto a nearby walking trail. The driver then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, where they then broke into a residence. The suspect was then quickly arrested. The occupants of the residence were able to hide from the intruder and were not harmed.

With the matter resolved, 40-year-old Daniel Lennie of Fort Good Hope has been charged with:

  • Flight from Police
  • Operation of a Vehicle while Prohibited
  • Breaking & Entering
  • Resisting a Peace Officer
  • Failure to comply with Release Conditions

When he was arrested, Lennie was under the conditions of a house arrest after being released from custody on bail. He was also under a driving prohibition. He is currently in police custody once again.

Anyone who has additional information on this matter can contact the Yellowknife RCMP at 669-1111.
