The Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories has just announced that they now have a new Sergeant-at-Arms.
Mr. Chris Comeau has been announced to be the new Sergeant-at-Arms, the role of which is responsible for keeping order and running security within the Legislative Assembly building. The Sergeant-at-Arms is in charge of keeping Members, staff, and visitors safe at all times while inside the Assembly.
Coming from an Indigenous descent and a resident of Yellowknife, Mr. Comeau is originally from Hay River, and brings with him a 26 year history of working with the GNWT Department of Justice. His background includes roles within the Corrections Service, such as Warden, Deputy Warden, and Adjudication and Investigations Specialist.
Shane Thompson, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, said that he is pleased to welcome Comeau to his new role.
“His leadership and expertise in security make him a valuable asset to the Legislative Assembly. I would also like to extend our deep gratitude to Floyd Powder for his dedicated service and wish him well in his retirement.”
