GNWT Seeking Public Input on New Climate Change Action Plan

The GNWT is looking for public feedback on their proposed Climate Change Action Plan.

Concerned by the unique impact that climate change could have on the North, the Territorial government has drafted the 2025-2029 Climate Change Action Plan as a way to try and reach the goals that have been previously put forth by the 2030 NWT Climate Change Strategic Framework. Much of that Framework is being used to actively develop this new draft.

Feedback is being taken on this new Action Plan, and the GNWT is hoping to hear from many different voices, including Indigenous governments and organizations, non-profit groups, the NWT Climate Change Council, the Climate Change Youth Council, and the general public.

Omce this information collection phase comes to an end, the feedback will be considered and collected into a “What We Heard” report. The data will be used to form the final version of the Action Plan.

Submitted feedback will be considered based on its relevance to several important factors, such as the NWT’s ability to meet previous climate change commitments, the responsibility of the NWT as a whole, and collaboration between different Northern governing bodies.

Public feedback is open now, and will be collected until November 27th. Information is being gathered through an online Have Your Say portal.
