Dredging Work to take place in Fort Simpson

Some important construction will be taking place near Fort Simpson later next month.

From August 15th to September 18th, the Liard River Ferry Landings will have some essential dredging work done in order to help make navigation easier for the M.V. Lafferty Ferry.

The site of this work is located at Kilometre 457 on Highway 1 near Fort Simpson. A long-reach excavator will be on site to remove up to 8,000 cubic metres of obstructing materials such as boulders, cobbles, and other pieces of sediment that currently blocks the ferry’s path. This work is not expected to affect the ferry’s schedule, but the public will be properly informed if that ends up being the case.

The GNWT express their thanks to the public for their understanding and cooperation on this matter.
