Krista Carnogursky appointed Ombud of the Northwest Territories

In a motion passed by the House, Ms. Krista Carnogursky’s appointment has been recommended to the commissioner of the Northwest Territories, pursuant to the Ombud Act.

The Ombud Act mandates the appointment of the Ombud to a five-year term, which involves investigating complaints about administrative fairness in government operations. Carnogursky, of Gwich’in heritage, has 18 years of experience with the Government of the Northwest Territories, including positions as a correctional officer, probation officer, senior probation officer, and diversity and inclusion manager within the Department of Finance.

Her expertise includes administrative and procedural fairness, interviewing techniques, interpreting legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures, and preparing reports and recommendations. Her role as Ombud will ensure that government administration is conducted fairly, reasonably, and equitably. Her term begins on July 1, 2024.
