Yellowknife, NWT – Fort Liard R.C.M.P say an investigation is underway after the community’s water treatment plant was broken into.

Police say a 20-year-old male from the community gained entry to the building last Thursday and turned himself in later that day.

He’s facing charges of breaking and entering, possession of break-in tools, mischief and theft under five thousand dollars.

The Mounties say there was no indication of tampering with any treatment equipment, but operation of the plant was suspended temporarily to perform tests on the water.

The 20-year-old male is scheduled to make a court appearance on August 14th in Fort Liard Territorial court.
