The City of Yellowknife has sent out a few spring reminders for motorists as part of the weekly Capital Update.
With most of the snow now gone from the roads, the snow removal services have come to an end for the year. However, there are still ice patches in certain areas to keep an eye out for, especially during the mornings and evenings. The City is currently working on schedules for street cleaning to remove all of the accumulated dust and sand that is used over the winter.
Drivers are asked to use caution around accumulated water around the streets while spring maintenance and cleaning are underway. They are also reminded to not splash residents on the sidewalk while driving.
All outdoor rinks are officially closed, and residents are advised to keep an eye out for thin and weak ice.
Property owners with sidewalks are reminded to do their best to keep them clear of any dirt, gravel, sand, and remaining snow until May 15th. Homeowners are asked to clear away remaining snow from their roofs to avoid injuring anyone who may be walking by when it falls, and to check for leaks in basements from melting snow.
