The 28th Snowking Winter Festival is Underway

The Kings of the Snowkings’ Winter Festival site have today issued a Royal Proclamation declaring the official launch of Snowking XXVIII.

“Well, this year’s festival is going to be just wonderful, a spectacle for all ages, especially kids ages,” says Snowking. “With the return of the Great Hall after two Covid years, we’ll be bringing back much-missed live performances of regal stature, something I have dearly missed!”

When the world-famous Castle opens its doors on March 1 for its 28th year down on the shores of Houseboat Bay, we will also see international carvers work their magic in the Snow Carving Symposium, along with the highly anticipated Ice Slides created by King Joe Snow himself.

Snowking and his team of frosty ice experts have already been harvesting some of the 400 ice blocks needed for the Castle’s windows, steps, and slides. Loyal patrons will be hearing more in the coming weeks as organizers seek out volunteers to round out the team for month-long winter wonder.

This year’s event will also feature the return of The King of the Hill Raffle. Participants can purchase tickets leading up to the event, and will be slowly eliminated over time until only one ticket remains. The King of the Hill raffle’s $100 tickets go on sale today, online-only, at SNOWKING.CA, for a chance to claim some of the $17,000 in prize money.

“Stay tuned for more news over the coming weeks,” says Snowking, “and be there March 1 when we saw through the castle’s formidable snow gate and open XXVIII to the world!”
